Round Hill's Odyssey of the Mind finishes season strong

The halls of Round Hill Elementary School were lined with students holding hand-made signs with words of encouragement to support their classmates who competed in the Odyssey of the Mind State Finals. The two teams, led by Teaching Assistant Maritza Cesani and Teacher Kimberly Acevedo, had a great finish to their season, with Ms. Cesani’s team placing third out of 17 teams.

“I was really impressed by their teamwork, collaboration and how they carried themselves,” said Principal Kristin Shaw. “I'm just really proud of them.”

Ms. Acevedo's team wrote a skit about pollution and made a trash-cleaning robot that could also fetch and throw toys. Ms. Cesani's team created a structure made of balsa wood that held 570 lbs.

“It was such a rewarding experience for us coaches to see what our kids could come up with and accomplish all on their own,” said Ms. Acevedo. “We are so proud of our teams for all the hard work they have been putting in all school year! Getting to travel to Syracuse for our state competition was such an amazing experience for all of us and the students had so much fun.”
