ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL
Kristin Shaw is excited to begin her second year as the Principal of Round Hill. She began her career in education as a high school English teacher in the South Bronx in 2003 and spent her 9 years in the city as a teacher, and in various leadership roles. She came to Washingtonville in 2013 and served as an Assistant Principal in the High School before moving up the road to Round Hill.
Ms. Shaw grew up in a small town much like Washingtonville (although MUCH smaller!) in Western New York, and wanted to return to that small town feeling where everyone knew each other and looked out for one another. When students have personal connections with their teachers and are readily available resources and support, it is much more likely that they will succeed!
One of the things that drew her to the Washingtonville School District was the collaborative effort that each and every staff member contributes to making the district a successful one for its students. Everyone is invested in making the district a great one for its students, and they continually try to improve upon the experiences and opportunities they can offer our students. Her favorite aspect of
working in this district is collaborating with the various faculty, support staff, and administrators on a daily basis -- and getting to know the families that comprise our wonderful community, as well!
Ms. Shaw lives in Montgomery with her husband, and their three sons -- one who just started 1st grade, one who just entered Middle School as a 6th grader, and her oldest, who will graduate from Valley Central in June 2024!
Ms. Shaw loves to read and tend to her garden. She is an avid movie, music, and sports fan who also loves theater. Ms. Shaw is looking forward to another fantastic year at Round Hill!
