ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL
Kristin Shaw is embarking upon her 20th year in education, having begun her career as an English teacher in NYC. In addition to teaching, she spent her 9 years in the city in various leadership roles such as, Grade Team Leader, Literacy Coach, Testing Coordinator, and an Interim Assistant Principal, as well. She has been employed by the Washingtonville School District since 2013, with her first 9 years in the role of an Assistant Principal at the High School. She then moved into her current role as the Principal of Round Hill Elementary School in August of 2022.
Ms. Shaw grew up in a small town much like Washingtonville (although MUCH smaller!) in Western New York, and wanted to return to that small town feeling where everyone knew each other and looked out for one another. When students have personal connections with their teachers, and readily available resources and support, it is much more likely that they will succeed!
One of the things that drew her to the Washingtonville School District was the collaborative effort that each and every staff member contributes in making the district a successful one for its students. Everyone is invested in making the district a great one for its students, and they continually try to improve upon the experiences and opportunities they can offer our students. Her favorite aspect of working in this district is collaborating with the various faculty, support staff, and administrators on a daily basis -- and getting to know the families that comprise our wonderful community, as well!
Ms. Shaw lives in Montgomery with her husband, and their three sons, who are age 5, 10, and 16, in addition to their dog, and two cats. She loves to read and tend to her garden. She is an avid movie, music, and sports fan, and loves to visit Broadway with her family and friends -- when she is able!
