Round Hill Elementary celebrates the fifth grade class at 2025 Moving Up Ceremony

There was much to celebrate as proud parents, friends and family filled the Washingtonville High School Auditorium for Round Hill Elementary’s Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony on Monday afternoon.

The event marked a significant milestone for the Class of 2025, who received their moving up certificates and were recognized with various awards honoring their achievements and contributions throughout elementary school.

The ceremony began with the Color Guard from the WHS JROTC Magic Battalion presenting the colors and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Round Hill Principal Kristin Shaw then delivered opening remarks, commending the students for their leadership and character.

“I entrusted these fifth graders to be role models, and they did not let me down,” she said. “They came together as a strong team and showed younger students how to lead with respect and kindness.”

Individual students were honored with awards, including Music Recognition, the Josephine Giacco Award, Physical Education Awards, the Triple “C” Award, the State Comptroller Award,  the Citizenship Award, the Civic Ambassador Award, the Heart of Gold Award and the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Citizenship Award. Following this recognition, each class took the stage to receive their official moving up certificates.

Assistant Principal Alexandra Bandremer-Perez closed the ceremony with encouraging words: “There may be challenges ahead, but I have no doubt you are ready to meet them. Keep asking questions, continue to be kind and always remember that you have a team at Round Hill cheering you on.”

The celebration concluded on a heartfelt note as the students joined together to sing their fifth grade song, “Count on Me” by Bruno Mars.
