Class of 2025 graduates visit their old elementary school

Prior to graduation, Washingtonville High School graduates who attended Round Hill Elementary School got the opportunity to visit their former teachers and see the school one last time before leaving the Washingtonville Central School District.

“Their character, poise and determination fills me with joy and pride for what they have achieved over the years as part of our learning community, and I am excited to see what lies on the horizon for each of them,” said Principal Kristin Shaw. “I know that I speak for our faculty and staff when I say that they are wonderful young people who make us proud, and they will definitely do amazing things in the future!”

The special drop-in started with graduates in their cap and gowns walking the hallways as current elementary students cheered for them, holding up signs with words of encouragement as seniors passed them with big smiles while giving high-fives.

“Walking through the hallways almost felt like I was a little kid again,’ said Sophia Molinari, a recent WHS graduate. “It's really bittersweet, to be honest. Seeing all the kids with the signs, it shows that they truly appreciate everything that the students have done so far and paving a path for them.”

Afterwards, seniors had the opportunity to visit their old classrooms to catch up with their elementary teachers and talk to current students. During this, students and teachers recalled fond memories and took photos with one another. Kimberley Gage, a third grade teacher, shared with her graduating students acrostic poems their peers made for them when they became student of the month.
