Monday kicked off Respect Week for Round Hill Elementary School. Respect Week was all about encouraging everyone to treat each other with kindness and respect. Even though the week is now over, students have messages that will carry them into their futures.
Throughout the week, students and faculty were encouraged to participate in the different themed days including Positive Power Day, where students wore something with a positive message or created something that sent a positive message. During Unity Day everyone was encouraged to wear orange to stand up to bullying, and during We are ALL Wizards Together Day, everyone wore the school colors of blue and gold.
On Friday teachers were asked to share the Pledge of Respect with their students, which reiterated the message of the week, and encouraged students to continue their goal of being respectful.
I am a smart, special and valuable person. I respect myself. I respect others. I respect my school. My words and actions are kind and honest. I accept only my best in all that I do. I am proud to be me and proud to be a wizard!
Students signed a sheet titled, “Respect Connects Us All,” as a way to show their commitment to continue being respectful.
“This week, I definitely saw a lot of students being kind,” said fifth grader Jackson Crawford. “That’s why I think Respect Week is important because it reminds everyone, especially the older kids, that we should all be nice to each other and show respect.”
Respect Week leads directly into another important week for the district, Red Ribbon Week. This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme is “Life is a movie, film drug free.” Students throughout the district will be focused on encouraging students to live drug free.
