Dear Parents/Guardians of Round Hill Elementary Students:

As a follow up to an earlier email from our District earlier in the summer regarding our revised school times for the 2022-2023 school year, we have made adjustments to our morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. For those of you who are returning to Round Hill in the fall, you will notice that our previous procedures remain in place for this school year, although the times vary slightly.

In an effort to create an efficient process for getting our students safely into school, please review the directions outlined below and refer to the attached maps for both our morning and afternoon procedures. There will be some differences between morning drop off and afternoon pick up, so please read each procedure carefully.

Morning Drop-Off (Kindergarten): [Please refer to the Morning Arrival Drop-Off Map.]

1. The drop-off line will begin to form at 8:40 am. Please do not arrive prior to this time, as we will not have staff available to supervise the doors and assist in the process.

2. You will enter the school from the Round Hill Road entrance, and follow the arrows up the access road.

3. Please remain on the left hand side of the access road. At the end of the access road, there is a large turn-around area.

4. Once at the Kindergarten Entrance door, you will be able to drop them off to staff there. Students will then enter the Kindergarten wing directly.

Morning Drop-Off (Grades 1-5):

1. If you do not have a kindergarten child, you will continue to follow the Round Hill access road in the reverse direction, and then turn left toward the North door where staff will assist in unloading all students in Grades 1 through 5.

2. Once your child is clear of the car, you may proceed to exit the school grounds by driving through the gates toward Route 208.

Drop-Off (UPK Students -- AM Session):

1. Arrival time for students in our AM UPK program will begin between 8:50 am and 8:55 am. Our AM UPK Session begins promptly at 9:00 am. Please note that cars MAY NOT enter the south entrance from 208 until ALL buses have left the front of the building. This is for the safety of all of our children and staff members.

2. Once buses have left the front of the building, you may proceed to the UPK door towards the front right of the building. Staff members will be there to assist in the process of gathering the students and bringing them into the building.

3. Once your child(ren) are accounted for by RH Staff, you may exit the area. Please take caution as you leave the building grounds, and be alert of students and staff members who may be in close proximity.

Drop-Off (UPK Students -- PM Session):

1. Arrival time for students in our PM UPK program will begin between 12:00 pm and 12:05 pm. Our PM UPK Session begins promptly at 12:10 pm. Please use the south driveway entrance to the building grounds on Route 208.

2. You will then proceed to the UPK door towards the front right of the building. Staff members will be there to assist in the process of gathering the students and bringing them into the building.

3. Once your child(ren) are accounted for by RH Staff, you may exit the area. Please take caution as you leave the building grounds, and be alert of students and staff members who may be in close proximity.

Afternoon Pick-Up (Grade K-5): [Please refer to the Afternoon Dismissal Map.]

1. All parents who are picking up students must remain in their cars and enter the pick up line which will form at the Round Hill Road entrance.

2. Please DO NOT enter the bus-only loop from Route 208. This is a safety issue, and will impede our ability to get the children safely into the building.

3. Most importantly, we cannot have parents gather outside in front of the school to pick students up in the afternoon. Inside the school, the students will be organized so staff can quickly and efficiently bring them outside to your car.

4. Staff will be outside to assist in guiding parents and the students.

AM Session Pick-Up (UPK Students):

1. Dismissal time for students in our AM Session UPK program is 11:30 am.

2. Proceed to the UPK door towards the front right of the building. Staff members will be there to assist in the process of reuniting students with their parents.

3. Once your child is safely inside the vehicle, you may exit the area. Please take caution as you leave the building grounds, and be alert of students and staff members who may be in close proximity.

PM Session Pick-Up (UPK Students):

1. Dismissal time for students in our PM Session UPK program is between 2:40 pm and 2:50 pm. Please note that all cars must be cleared of the front entrance by 2:50 pm in order to accommodate our buses arriving for the dismissal of our Kindergarten through Grade 5 students.

2. Proceed to the UPK door towards the front right of the building. Staff members will be there to assist in the process of reuniting students with their parents.

3. Once your child is safely inside the vehicle, you may exit the area. Please take caution as you leave the building grounds, and be alert of students and staff members who may be in close proximity.

Other Important Items to Keep in Mind:

We must ensure that each child gets into the correct vehicle, and that you are authorized to pick up.

To facilitate this, please remember the following:

1. For students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 5, you may begin to line up by 2:55 pm.

2. You must bring a photo identification with you and have it readily available when you arrive at the designated pick-up point.

3. If you are sending someone else to pick up your child, make sure they have a form of photo identification, and must be officially listed as a contact on SchoolTool.

4. Staff will check the I.D. and compare it to our official pick-up list. Once confirmed, the students may enter the vehicle, and you can exit the school via Route 208.

5. For the afternoon pick up, we will follow the same traffic pattern up the Round Hill Access road to the back of the building. However, all vehicles will proceed to the North door, including Kindergarten students’ families.

**There will be no Kindergarten station at the back of the building in the afternoon. All students in grades K-5 will be dismissed from the North door.**

Please be patient with this process as the safety of the students is our primary concern. Expect delays and tweaks to our procedures as we monitor the process for safety and efficiency. It is essential that these procedures are followed properly in order to ensure a safe experience for your children.
