September 15 through October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month, which honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. To kick off National Hispanic Heritage Month at Round Hill, Ms. Shaw introduced the celebration during morning announcements. Here's what she said:
“Today begins Hispanic Heritage Month at Round Hill. National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. During this month and throughout the year, we share history, heritage, and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans of past and present."
One way Round Hill students will be celebrating Hispanic culture during this time, is by learning a new school-themed word every day!
The first word is "escuela," which is Spanish for school. So repeat after us Round Hill...
"Te quiero mi escuela!" (I love my school!)
